Filming Schedule

This is the filming schedule that my group members and I believed would be most beneficial as it takes into consideration half terms and individual weeks. The table simply states when we will film and more specifically what layers will be shot on each day. In the half term week, the week beginning the 24th of October, we planned to have a whole day of filming on the Saturday in which the South Bank Layer will be shot. This decision was made as it gives the girls in the band and some of the extras we are using time to plan the rest of their half term and only have to dedicate one main day to filming. We also left room for optional filming within the half term week as we thought we made need to shoot extra scenes for fillers.

Plan for Filming - 10th October 2011

The above word document shows everything that we hoped would get achieved on the 10th of October. By having a plan, it meant that we were able to get straight into shooting the layer instead of getting to the location and wasting time organising what would be filmed.

Location Shots - The Street

The layer in which the street is on screen is before the actual song is heard.  It sets the scene of the area in which the girls live/are brought up in and allows the target audience to learn more about the different individuals within the group.  The scene is quite short with scripted speech and presents the girls in an everyday life situation.  The script ends with the girls saying 'yeah that alright still' which introduces the name of the song, 'Alrite Stillll'.

Residential Shot of the Street - Layer One

The image above identifies a residential shot of the road that the first layer is filmed on.  Clearly, the street in which we decide to film looks like an every day street in London.  This is exactly the image that we wanted to portray as the band's target audience is that of normal boys and girls between the age of 14 and 18.  Within this age range, teenagers' everyday activities involve hanging around with friends and being surrounded by those you know best.  Furthermore, we found that this street looked natural and would be able to relate similarly to the areas in which our target audience can associate with.

Additional Shots of the Street - Long Shot an Establishing Shot
Similarly, these two images above reveal a long shot of the street and an establishing shot.  Within these images, it is clear to see where the girls will be walking and reveals the residential area in which the layer will be filmed.  In terms of ease of access, the road is very near to where Graveney School is located meaning that all of the girls will be able to get there easily and we can potentially film within a school day.

Location Shots - The Alleyway

Above is a PowerPoint presentation which reveals one of our music video layers. The presentation contains a few images and the reasoning behind why we thought the area would be good to film in.

Original Script for Road Layer

For the first layer, the girls are seen casually walking up a road in mid-conversation. This layer primarily sets the scene and ambiance that we wish to portray within the video and allows the target audience to get to learn a bit about the individual members of the group. As a group, we scripted a short conversation that the girls would be saying to each other as they walked up the street. However, when it came to actually filming this layer, the script felt a bit awkward so we allowed the girls to make up their own script. This worked a lot better as it seemed more natural and allowed them to relate to their target audience in a more realistic way.

Original Script

Above is the script that we created for our music video. It includes the different layers that we wish to have and what will happen on screen when certain lyrics are being sung. The script will be very important and helpful for when we come to create our storyboard, but we do expect that many things will change and alter.

School Timetable of Regina Okeke

As explained below in Sharna's timetable, we believed that knowing when the girls had free lessons would help us organise when to film.

School Timetable of Sharnough Dauley-Hill

The below picture is the timetable of school lessons and free periods that Sharna has.  We decided that it was imported to find out when the girls were free to ensure that we made the most of the periods that we had off together.  This meant that we were able to organise filming schedules accordingly in terms of specific timing within the day.

Biography of Actors Playing RD in our Video

Similarly to the band RD, we decided to have three main girls to represent the group. This was because the song itself is set up into three main parts which represent different characteristics of the individual girls. Furthermore, there is a brief description of the girls that we chose below, which girl will be singing each part of the song and the general reasoning behind why we chose them.

Sharnough Dauley-Hill
Sharna  - Singing 'Chronz's Part
Sharna, a student attending Graveney School is currently 16 years of age.  Playing the character of Chronz within the actual RD group, Sharna is very reliable and up to date with the current R and B, Grime and Hip-Hop genres of music.  By attending Graveney School, communication and scheduling filming arrangements is fairly easy as it is very common to see her around.
We decided to give Sharna the MC part within the song, as we felt that it fitted naturally with her characteristics and personality.  Therefore, we hope that on screen, her actions and persona will appear to be natural and relate directly to members of our target audience.
Overall Reasoning Behind Choosing Sharna:
Being a 16 year old, Sharna is able to directly relate to our target audience and has the right attitude and persona that we want within the group.  She also works well with people, is known to be reliable and from what was seen within the auditions is confident with working with new people.
Regina - Singing either Troy or Martika's  Part

Regina Okeke
When we were first advertising that we needed three girls to take part in a music video, Regina was extremely enthusiastic and up for the challenge.  Due to her initial response, we knew that she would be dedicated and would help motivate others to come to the auditions.  However, Regina at first decided that she would prefer to be an extra in the video but when asked again was up for being a main character.  Also attending Graveney School, it will be easy to contact her and inform her on any decisions that we make as a group.  At the moment in the early stages of planning, we are unsure as to whether Regina will be singing the lyrics of Martika or Troy.  This is because she is very versatile and therefore we want to test what persona she best suits on screen.
Overall Reasoning Behind Choosing Regina
Similarly to Sharna, we believe that Regina will be dedicated and committed to being in the video and her natural versatility means that we will not be restricted when filming her.  She is also extremely friendly and listens carefully to direction so shooting her will hopefully raise minimal issues.

Shamilla Simms

Shamilla - Troy or Martika
Being a member of the production group, Shamilla Simms filled in to be one of the main girls.  This was due to the original girls that we had being unable to film when we planned the filming schedule.  As a member of the production team, Shamilla knows the importance of meeting deadlines and will definitely be 100% committed to making the music video a success.
A bonus of working with Shamilla being on screen, is that the camera takes naturally to her so the video will hopefully have a natural vibe.  She also gets on extremely well with the other girls, and by being part of the actual acting she is also able to suggest direction and inform me and Tia of what is working effectively.
Overall  Reasoning Behind Choosing Shamilla
Being a media A2 student herself, Shamilla knows the importance of commitment and dedication and how much effort, time and work goes into filming.  Due to this, she will work her hardest in motivating the other girls to act natural on screen and perform to a high standard.
